Personally, the blown out aesthetics of the current music scene at large has always been a sound that I admire and actively seek out. However, in the sound’s popularity rises there have been a couple artists whose voice under the distortion is just so grading to my ears and it just feels incompatible. On the other hand, Moh Baretta’s somewhat jaded voice that he always manages to carry with a focused, hungry vocal delivery is perfectly suited for the distortion.
It sounds like he’s striking the perfect balance between his melodic verses and the distorted instrumentals on his latest single “DEAD WRONG”. The song was produced by Forest Milan, and after listening to it a few times I went to SoundCloud to see if they have produced any other Moh Baretta tracks, I scrolled to the very bottom of their ‘prod forest milan’ playlist on soundcloud and found three songs released just this past May that flew under my radar. One of them, “2MUCH4SUM” was co-produced with Cutspace, but my favorite of the three was “GOOD BAD UGLY”, which is essentially just Moh Baretta rapping over a crazy hardstyle beat, it’s incredible.
Forest Milan has also produced other tracks of his, like the recent single titled “Summer Prep”, which is another perfect blend of melody and distortion. I really think that there is a special type of synergy between artist and producer here, like these two have near unlimited potential if they continue making songs together.
