Greenwood X Lil Skele - Quiet Afterwards
Irish singer Greenwood recently teamed up with Lil Skele on their newest single “Quiet Afterwards,” This song features a soft piano instrumental, a common feature of Greenwood’s music. This feature is surprisingly uncommon in the melodic hyperpop scene, setting him apart from other singers. Greenwood’s singing style can be described as soft and angelic. “Quiet Afterwards” was positively received, one of his fans wrote “One of my favourite artists,”

Inwood’s Ghost - CHAINSAWMAN
Inwood’s Ghost was previously known as Killing Yokai and griefpastor. Growing up in Washington Heights and Inwood neighbourhoods of NYC, Inwood’s Ghost had a rough upbringing. This energy is channeled through his music, oftentimes reflecting his dark emotions. At a runtime of just 1:01 Inwood’s Ghost delivers a hard-hitting track similar to the 2016/2017 era of trap metal, popularized by artists such as PRXJEK, 7xvn, KAMASUTRA 9G, and ERROR SVI (fka TEKKEN+).

Where this double single shines the most is in its production, at just 17 years old, kuriosity stands out from other artists his age in his production quality.

Skin Place - i’m letting unseen forces take the wheel
Internet based ILUFTTW remains unable to be pigeonholed; both tracks on their latest a/b side single thrash through sub-genres, and were produced mainly by co-founding member Dynastic. The a-side, inspired by other founding member Cvnvvn’s sound design skills, has a more cybergrind-mathcore sound; the b-side however, has a more skramz/screamo vibe, while still remaining an extremely fitting companion to the prior track.

BEJIBLE - Bejalvin
Pulling from dubstep, trap, glitchcore, and cybergrind, Bejalvin delivers a skillfully absurd listening experience; the BEJIBLE is another example of this, as well as a testament to the duo’s sound design, and extreme growth as artists since their self-titled. The record at no moment stands still, it is playful, funny, and oftentimes terrifying.

GOLD STAR - Space Camp
The fourth album from Connecticut’s avant-garde hardcore noise duo is more of the magnificent chaos they have been wreaking and refining for almost a decade. Continuing to build on their individual sound, GOLD STAR is the most maddening release in their catalog by far; longtime engineer/producer of the duo, Seth Manchester, has done a masterful job capturing the gorgeous horrors of Space Camp.

Capsule of Tyme - Astral Trap
The first of what is to be many records this year from Astral Trap, has production that is an amalgamation of house, synth pop, r&b, and hip-hop that is dreamy, bright, and trippy. Capsule of Tyme, lyrically, seems to be exactly that: raps that encapsulate an infatuation, a lust-story even, and the life happening around that.

HAIRY&FRIENDS - LordHeretic
LordHeretic and friends have started the year off with a bang; the brief ep is four loud, aggressive, and fun collaboration tracks. Described as a “a mish-mosh of friendship and no direction,” HAIRY&FRIENDS dips it’s toes in phonk and trap-metal, two genres Heretic is no stranger to.

Grief In V Stages - sear
South Carolina heavy act’s debut release is a heart-wrenching combination of black metal, screamo, and hardcore, and this ep is an excellent introduction to the innovation of sound the band is able to achieve. Grief In V Stages is dreamy and atmospheric at times, but mainly wide, dense, and chaotic.
