Mindfreak - VLAD ft. Astral Trap Prod. Bleed
KILLMILORD contemporaries VLAD and astral trap team up on a tripped-out club beat from producer bleed. The two spit hyped up flows across dance demanding drums, signature bleed desk-shaking bass and playful bleeps n’ bloops. The KML rappers were long overdue for a published collab, and this is a perfect introduction to what these two can do on a track together.

Vignette - Lilac Heart, Co-Prod Scro
Scro, an emo guitarist for hire (among many other things), may have provided more than enough ear candy with their twinkle guitar loop; however, lilac heart is no minimalist. Between pop vocals, video game samples, warm bass, hyper-trap drums, and gorgeous piano, the Ohio producer/vocalist manages to keep the just over two minute track loaded with memorable moments.

FirsttimE - Mit3s
Frantic arps are met with haunting electric piano, dance influenced drums, a fat 808, and autotuned drenched vocals; a sound palette that, while not necessarily “revolutionary,” innovates on the tried and true elements of digicore. What makes this song stand out is the crisp catchy vocals, the uplifting piano melody, and the extremely clean low end.

What’s to Come - genki girl.
Angelic choirs, haunting bells, and breakbeats fill Genki girl.’s first [soundcloud] release since her self-titled, a 6 minute drum and bass epic. Due to moving to more analog/classical sounds than what the self-titled showcased, genki has crafted what can only be described as a Neir-worthy boss fight track.

De Facto - oso oso
Jade Lilitri, joined by jack of all trades Jordan Krimston on drums, brings oso oso fans another riff laden, chorus heavy single. Billy Mannino’s production and mixing of this track brings a brilliance to Lilitri’s commonly guitar centric instrumentation and dense vocal layers. De Facto is less experimental of the oso oso sound, though still remaining new and interesting; the addition of acoustic guitar plays a hand in that.

Stranded - Babebee ft. angelus prod. simon m
Digital singer/songwriter Babebee revisits their single “stranded,” this time with guest vocalist angelus. A prime example that hyperpop is not all scenecore revival; Babebee has collaborated with a producer who, like Babebee’s self produced work, incorporates digital and analog sounds to create a digi-rock beat. The addition of angelus’ vocals this time around brings out a new dynamic to the listen.

This was it - Normal Park
Over the course of just over a half hour, the Ypsilanti based band spins tales of life in Southeast Michigan. Normal Park draws from midwest-emo roots, but still incorporates elements of pop-punk, indie rock, and occasionally country, to shape a sound unique to them. ”this was it” is a wonderful example of 5th wave emo, and its refusal to stay in one lane.

GOON- Superdestroyer
Most aptly described as post-genre guitar music, GOON is a 17 minute exploration of sound. Packed with features, Superdestroyer’s range has been expanded tenfold for this record. Guitar tone heaven can be found in this concept album about “'a doomed family vacation to the beach;” though the co-production of Superdestroyer and Daniel Zasadny of Eureka Records has resulted in a full and dynamic sound for every element of the record.

Let It Glow - Phantomwise
Self-described as “haunted emo,” the D.C. duo call back to previous waves [of emo] with mathy drums, fuzzy guitars, and heartfelt vocals; while still remaining to show influences of indie rock, shoegaze, and punk. Covering the full spectrum of life, Phantomwise delivers inspiring, poetically coded lyricism, leaving a lot to digest on top of the extremely tight instrumentation.

The Bottle Air and Its Prey - Decapitation in the Food Court
The first album from this midwest band explores post-hardcore, post-rock, and even dips it’s toes in alt-country, early emo sounds, and even rap. TBAAIP in both execution and production, which was done “in house”, is reminiscent of early Cursive; Decapitation… manages to capture those nostalgic tones with new, beautifully bizarre ideas, and samples galore.

Feel It All - Discussing The Sun
Discussing The Sun fuses elements of synth pop and trip-hop, creating a psychedelic chamber-pop sound; imagine The Postal Service on two tabs acid. The duo incorporates both digital and analog instrumentation throughout every song to create a tonally vast album; the glue that holds this together is singer Mars of Holy Kerouac’s lush vocal processing, and Leave Nelson B’s innovative, often funky, drum compositing.

Afterthoughts - TONEDEAF
Produced mainly by German artist laura, with the exception of two tracks, TONEDEAF has constructed a soft, angelic, and vivid release. Dreamy and ambient, afterthoughts builds on TONEDEAF’s cloud-pop sound; the EP is tonally calming, feeling like a walk through the woods on a beautiful day.
