Of course I’m being facetious- there are plenty of artists who fit that description, like videogame auteur Hideo Kojima for instance, but only because no other artist is leveling up quite like Dani. This is on clear display on Dani’s latest EP K.I.G.

The EP starts off with ‘HAVIN IT’, which sounds like the perfect opening track, it’s full of energy and insanely catchy. My favorite track is ‘KICK IT’. I specifically love the part where Dani says “I got so much on the line, I can’t do no wrong”. I do also love the bar “All I sip is purple like it’s LSU, Mama said ‘boy you a star, but you never knew’”

Dani Kiyoko is very clearly equally as inspired by their peers and friends- such as those like-minded artists belonging to Dani’s Sutetchi label, as they are names like Childish Gambino, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Wayne. Evidence of such is in the soundcloud likes tab on their profile, which is consistently updated, and just a trove of good taste. In my opinion, a high level of respect for good art and a desire to discover more can go a long way if you let it, and Dani Kiyoko is simply capitalizing on that to realize their dreams.
