Pty has been busy this year.
The above sentence is potentially the biggest understatement of 2025. A glance at Pty’s page on Bandcamp or any other platform reveals as much. 20 drops in 2025, and that’s just the ones that are on his page. However, 11 months into the year; 20+ projects deep, it feels like he has dropped the project that will define the year of 2025 in his career’s history.

ÅGHETTOPHĮLOSØPHER has been busy this year.
After a breakout year that saw him shoot up many a favorites list, AGP has continued a fine vein of form that saw him drop a number of standout verses and some especially standout projects. A track on Pty’s February release Superstition has retroactively become a prologue to what is potentially his most important offering yet. DIAL#HURTFORHELP, announced recently with no prior warning (a recent habit of Pty’s) a little over 2 weeks before its release, became one of my most anticipated releases of a stacked year the moment I saw its announcement, it feels like the culmination of both artists’ careers to this point, and of many other things—the state of the world, music, culture and politics. Pty and his collaborators have never been wont to shy away from uncomfortable topics, and AGP has made it his mission to share his musings on the world around him on a major and minor scale. A project like this feels like it can only go one way, and it feels right.
The world has been busy this year.
I don’t think since 2020 have we had a year as newsworthy as this one. So much has happened so far, and more seems to be on the horizon. Every niche and subculture has been shaken by one thing or another, every country’s climate has changed—literally and otherwise. I struggle to find many other people whose voice would be better suited to vocalize a reflection on this torrid year and its aftermath, and I struggle to find a producer whose sounds can capture the chaos better than AGP and Pty respectively. Whatever the contents of this project, whatever angle the writing takes, whatever soundscape the instrumentals take us to, I (like many others) am ready. It feels like I’ve been ready for this project long before it was even announced. I write this before I have even pressed play on the first track. I write this to provide context on why this project is such a big moment for underground rap, for the artists involved and, honestly, for the world at large. I hope the read has prepared you for the ride.
