Nebulous Nigerian Lo-Fi producer Kaymor and his brother, the skilled wordsmith known as Akpor, came together for a collaborative EP that is sure to rule the playlists of everyone who listens this season - Maybe This Summer. This EP marks Kaymor’s first collaborations with a vocalist, and his first collaborative project in general.

After the success of SUBSTANCE from earlier this year, Kaymor enlists the talents of his rapper brother and a solitary guest appearance on the last track, T.H.I.S., to bring additional vibes to his smooth production. Themes of summer flings, catching a vibe while still focusing on progress and vacations to sunny beaches dominate the tracks, with some standout verses from Akpor on display for the occasion.
Summer: With Akpor’s most aggressive rapping, Summer is a standout performance from the rapper half of this duo, he drops some slick flex bars while keeping the focus on summertime enjoyment, hooping and not getting knocked off his hustle.
Maybe: The second track is a much more low-key affair and a personal favorite of mine on the EP. Akpor waxes poetic about relationships that may not be right for you in the moment, especially when there are other things on your mind. But who would say no to a summer fling? So for now, the answer is Maybe.
T.H.I.S.: The last track (not counting the sped up and slowed down versions of Maybe) includes a guest appearance that trades verses with Kaymor with themes of gratitude and commitment to the grind, while not forgetting the chill vibes that this EP was made to exhort. “Trip to The Cannes then I squeeze in Milan,” Akpor raps with his trademark fluidity, painting pictures of sunny beaches and calm waters. This track is a more-than-worthy part of the EP.
