Muki
Latest release from September 2024
Muki, an Australian PC pop sensation, is gaining recognition both locally and internationally. Muki’s first project Sassparilla from 2017 performed fantastically for an emerging artist with nearly 30k views on youtube and is markedly ahead of its time and feels very 2020’s. Currently Muki is pulling in over 310k monthly listeners on Spotify and shows no sign of slowing down. Her style has some semblance of Charlie XCX “Brat” energy but she brings to the table a great deal of her own flavour to which she pulls a great deal of inspiration from Ridley Scott's 1982 Blade Runner.
Muki’s music has a sort of early 2000’s europop/dance feel but amped up to maximum overdrive- it feels like an imagining of how the future would be in the 2020’s from the perspective of the early 2000’s. Muki gives you a great deal of danceable beats and feels like club music from the future. Muki has made a great deal of success for herself by touring with bigger name artists and bands (Briggs, The Veronicas, Cosmo's Midnight, Slayyyter and Jessica Mauboy) and is well on her way to being a huge global phenomenon. Muki’s style is cute and spicy, never compromising on rhythm and danceability.
Her song “I Know What I Like” sits at nearly 3M listens and is absolutely worth a listen. Bubblegum pop with cowbell 808’s and car crash samples- the production is absolutely fantastic. The catchiness is never lost in the chaos. Muki’s latest offering “I Hate You So Much I Could Cry ” demonstrates artistic development showing a rarer side of Muki and is a fantastic addition to her library.
Bunny Alex
Latest Release From September 2024
Bunny Alex is a fresh new voice on the scene, having released her debut single "Easy Game" and follow-up single "Habits" in 2023 and has released four more singles in the year 2024. The star quality is already evident. Alex follows in the pop footsteps of well known artists like Taylor swift but offers something very much of her own which is a gentleness that comes through in her contemplative lyrics and soft melodies. With her sweet, soft vocals, Bunny Alex embodies the essence of a quintessential pop star. She explores the complexities of modern romance, offering vulnerable insights into the trials of love and heartbreak. Her music primarily revolves around themes of love and loss; while she touches on sadness, her sound remains uplifting and soulful, showcasing the transformative power of heartbreak.
Her first track “Easy Game” goes from highs of fun, playful and care-free to some very mellow and heart-breaking lows but stays consistently smooth and sweet. “Habits” from 2023 is a continuation of the same feel in “Easy Game” and is a great follow up. If you enjoy pop music like Carly Rae Jepson and Taylor Swift you’re in for a treat with these two tracks. In her latest track "Rollercoaster" dropped 26th of September 2024. Bunny Alex pens a heartfelt goodbye, reflecting not only on her own emotions but also on the bittersweet journey of her lost love. Her music is consistently soft and sweet, even in its lows it resonates warmth and comfort. Bunny Alex has a wonderful collection of lovely pop songs and surely a bright future ahead of her.
Onyeka
Onyeka is a soulful singer-songwriter from the UK with an eclectic yet consistent library that boasts versatility and charm.
"If You Need Me" features a catchy hook that will stick in your mind -“I don’t ask for much these days” is sure to echo in your head for weeks. There is a really interesting blend of disco and contemporary pop going on here that is very original and compelling. Onyeka’s recent releases -“People In Our Lives” “Dreams” “Nice Girls” and “Mornings”- showcase a diverse range of instrumentation while maintaining a consistent vocal and lyrical style. “Mornings” exudes classic rock vibes with a mellow, soulful vibe, while “Nice Girls” adopts a softer, more laid-back sound. There’s a tasteful intermingling of classic rock and pop throughout her work. In contrast, “Dreams” delivers an airy, light feel that remains firmly anchored in pop, infused with rock drums.
As Onyeka builds a stunning repertoire of high-production-value songs brimming with heart, her velvety yet rich voice truly stands out. She wields her vocal talent with great effect, adding depth and emotion to her already rich sound. Her lyrics are real and tell relatable stories with a pensive, wise and always hopeful outlook.
Immi Dash
Latest Release From October 2024
Immi Dash’s latest single, “Promises” offers a moody and cinematic take on R&B, seamlessly blending hip-hop drums with vocals reminiscent of early Lana Del Rey. The result is a sleek and solid track that definitely deserves a listen. In contrast, “Don’t Cry Yet” is a breathy and atmospheric delight that evokes the essence of early 2000s pop and R&B while maintaining a contemporary production style that feels firmly 2020s. Immi Dash’s instrumentals cover a range of hip-hop, pop and contemporary styles but ultimately each track has R’N’B intonation, vocal delivery and there is certainly a recognizable sound.
Another standout track, “Freefalling” showcases Immi’s signature multi-layered vocal approach, further emphasizing her unique sound. The intricate layering creates a huge wave of sound, allowing her voice to fill the track at peaks and simmer down at the more mellow moments. Immi’s ability to blend different genres while retaining her distinctive style demonstrates her artistic versatility.
With each release, Immi Dash is making radio-ready songs that are ready for mainstream success. Her captivating nostalgic instrumental selection yet contemporary mix not only looks to the past but is at home with the present. As she develops her sound, Immi has all the pieces necessary for an enormous audience.
Opalites
Latest Release From August 2024
Opalites are a UK Grunge band that consists of Emily, Tara and Josh. It feels like Nirvana meets Hole. Their songs are grunge with some multi-genre influences but there’s also plenty of punk coming through in the vocal delivery. Opalites hit you like an explosion every time and never fails to deliver heavy duty grunge. Opalites have released an impressive number of well polished songs in only a couple of years and their latest offering “What A Waste” is a great project where each track is just as vibrant and bloodthirsty as the last. Song titles such as “Serious charges” are ingenious. Track after track “What A Waste” delivers adrenaline and boundless energy and tonnes of grit. “What A Waste” follows on from their previous 5 track release named “Red Flag” which delivers much of the same hard hitting grunge.
The song What Would You Do? (D*ckhead On A Bike) and accompanying music video is terrific tells the story of, well, a d*ckhead on a bike and in Tarentino fashion he is suitably dealt with by the Opalites. It’s cool, it’s funny and perfectly executed. An instant classic in their library. I highly recommend listening to this song with the accompanying video and cannot emphasise this enough.
