AJ: How'd you guys get into making music?

Slidetomycrib: In general?

AJ: Yeah, like what was the spark that set off the idea?

Osei: Back in 2019/2020, we got added into a groupchat with Kynlary, from there, we started talking and eventually making music. He kinda introduced us to the whole ‘twilight’ aesthetic, and we as a group made the sound together that's still being used to this day.

(Kynlary is an Atlanta based musician who gained notoriety for being at the forefront of the ‘diary plugg’ movement.)

AJ:  Wow, that was a long time ago. Shoutout Kynlary Where’d the name #twilight come from?

Osei: It was Kynlary being obsessed with the movies, and he was trying to make that into a collective.

AJ: If you guys had to explain to someone that's not too familiar with this niche, how would you describe the ‘twilight’ sound?

Elanidivine: Ambient, sad, emotional, depressing. Lyrics are about real life struggles when it comes to love, betrayal, heartbreak, etc.

AJ: Any musicians that inspire what you guys do in particular?

Slidetomycrib: Ronnie Radke & Donovan Melero.

Osei: George Michael & Ariana Grande.

Elanidivine: The Smiths, Frank Ocean, & Deftones.

AJ:  Great music! Where do you guys see the collective in 5 years?

Slidetomycrib: Hopefully, by then, we will have done some sort of tour, met up with everyone in New York, and fulfilled a lot of our goals.

Elanidivine: Touring all over the east and west coast, doing live performances really.

Osei: I definitely hope we’ve all linked up by then.

AJ: Any dream collaborations?

Elanidivine: Nah. Fuck everyone else, no dream collabs.

Osei: Not really, we’re more focused on improving our sound rather than wanting to work with other artists.

AJ: Do pineapples belong on pizza?

Osei: Yes! Shit fye.

Elanidivine: Fuck no!

Slidetomycrib: Yes. Unfortunately, yes.

AJ:  I’m crying! How do you guys stay motivated?

Osei: We often have meetings where we discuss our goals, ambitions, and when the best times would be to drop. We also often remind each other to work, nobody fucks with whenever someone's lacking or lazy. 

AJ:  Team Jacob or Team Edward?

All: Team Edward!

AJ: I see how you all get along so well with each other. In terms of any aspiring musicians, what’s a piece of advice you could give them?

Elanidivine: Be yourself.

Slidetomycrib: Never quit, even if you fail.

Osei: Keep on going, no matter what. So many people are gonna tell you to quit. So many people are going to say your shit is trash, and not gonna lie, YOU decide whether you’re gonna let that get to you or not. Keep making music for you only and FUCK validation. No one cares, just make your own sound that makes you feel the most comfortable and that resembles you.
