Luvariez Interview
Music Mondays specializes in spotlighting every type of underground independent artist and this week we sat down an artist known as Luvariez to discuss their early roots, upcoming album along with much more.
10/25/24
Zomb: So first off let's start simple, how old are you and where are you from?
Luvariez: I'm 19, from a small town in South Carolina called Lancaster. I've lived here my whole life but I'm actually moving about 30 minutes away this weekend.
Zomb: South Carolina has some crazy history with all types of art, tell us what it was like growing up for you? What were your experiences in your early years in South Carolina?
Luvariez: The history is truly great, for real. I grew up like a normal kid, I feel. I played soccer and baseball, I was a pretty smart kid up until COVID happened.
Zomb: Pretty smooth ride till the pandemic then things got weird for sure. Who were some of your favorite artists growing up? Who did you listen to early on?
Luvariez: Lil Wayne, for sure. I randomly rediscovered "I Can Transform Ya" the other day and remembered literally every lyric. Anything my parents would play around the house to be honest. I'd probably say Justin Bieber as well. I vividly remember being a fan of him when I was like 4 or 5.
Zomb: That's so sick, I can definitely relate to the Lil Wayne one a lot for sure. We Be Steady Mobbin is ingrained in my head. So the early years were solid, when did you first start discovering the idea of wanting to create music? How did that come about and how old were you?
Luvariez: Lil Wayne is a legend, for sure. I always loved music. I think that I started writing music around 11 years old. Then randomly I started recording it I guess. That was probably when I was about 13.
Zomb: That's a decent age to be starting off for sure, at what point did you end up recording a full song and deciding to take it a bit more seriously?
Luvariez: It was always fun for me to record whenever I had time and I released songs every once in a while after I started recording. I started taking music very seriously at the beginning of 2023 when I was about to graduate and decided that this is what I wanna do for the rest of my life. There's no other option.
Zomb: No better time than the present, so since 2023 you built up a pretty decent library and have had quite the run so far. What made you choose the name Luvariez? Tell us your story behind landing on that name.
Luvariez: Well my middle name is Aeriell and my Zodiac sign is Aries, so I decided to go by Ariez. I used a Z instead of an S for cool points. But the Instagram handle @ariez was taken so I made mine @luvariez for more cool points. Then in 2020, I was releasing an album that is now lost media. I hired an artist on Instagram to do my cover art and they put the name Luvariez on the cover and I felt like the name was very fitting so I just ran with it.
Zomb: Wow that's actually such a wild story, shout out that designer that went rogue and gave you Luvariez. Speaking of your music library, what is your creative process like? How long does it normally take you to record a song and have it ready for release?
Luvariez: To make a song from scratch, from start to finish, usually takes me about a week. And then that'll be just a so-called final demo. I'll find something wrong and then re record and then eventually the song gets sent to the engineer before release.
Zomb: The process is definitely important. So currently it's October 2024 and you're in full swing for your next album to drop. Tell us about your next project coming up and what we all can expect?
Luvariez: So currently it's October 23rd, 2024, 7:50pm and the album drops in less than 5 hours. The next project I'm dropping, my 2nd album, #recessionrap, is a collaboration project with the producer Ghost. We met over Twitter, we both followed each other, and he made a post saying he wanted to send beats. He sent me beats and we made this rock/punk-inspired project. You can expect me experimenting like I never have before and of course expect some amazing production from Ghost and Shazy. The title #recessionrap just came to me one day while I was thinking about album titles and I kinda liked it but not really. Then I couldn't think of anything else and it just stuck. But listening to the album you'll hear the common topics of money, fame, and success and you'll understand why the album is titled the way it is.
Zomb: Luckily we've gotten to preview some of it on the MM Podcast so it's definitely going to be a pleasure to see it finally drop. Now that this body of work is officially in your library, do you have a favorite track on the project and what can we expect for visuals because I'm sure you have something up your sleeve?
Luvariez: My favorite track is gonna have to be either the intro track, dedicated, or track number 3, rich by 21. I can't decide at the moment. More visuals are definitely coming. More music videos, lyric videos. The return of ear candy? for season two, but with a twist.
Zomb: This is what we love to hear, #recessionrap is in full effect. You mentioned the return of Ear Candy, tell us a little bit about that content piece from you and introduce it for those who haven't heard of it yet.
Luvariez: So ear candy? is a YouTube series I started at the beginning of this year where I filmed myself remixing popular songs. I remixed Bryson Tiller, Playboi Carti, and Kanye. And then the season finale was an original song, instead of being another remix. For season two, you get the music first, then the ear candy.
Zomb: Since we first premiered the piece on the MM Podcast I knew it was going to be gold. That's one we're definitely excited for following this project release. So with this latest release included, what is your favorite song you've created out of your current library? Released or unreleased
Luvariez: My most favorite song I've ever made is & she will too. It's the hidden banger of my discography and that album
Zomb: I absolutely can't wait to see what comes next out of this whole year. Wrapping up 2024 and heading into 2025, what are your plans for the end of the year and heading into the new one?
Luvariez: Dropping this album and closing the year off properly. All about this album for the rest of the year. Then I'm gonna start the year off right, just watch.
Zomb: Master planning from Luvariez, you heard it here first. One of the last questions I have for you is, outside of music, what keeps you sane? What are you usually doing outside of creating?
Luvariez: Unfortunately, creating isn't what I spend the majority of my time doing. I spend a lot of time with the main topic of all my rhymes, my girlfriend, and our two dogs. It's October so I've been watching a ton of horror movies.
Zomb: Sometimes the simple things can mean the most, love that. So my last question for you is, who are your personal top 5 favorite artists of all time? Any order.
Luvariez: I'd probably have to say BIGBABYGUCCI, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, Young Thug, & Bruno Mars off the top of my head
Zomb: Such a solid 5, I love that list to be honest. While we come to a close and before we sign off, do you have any shoutouts or words of motivation? The floor is yours my friend.
Luvariez: I just wanna say that you should do whatever you wanna do. You only get one life, make it yours. And shoutout to Ghost for the production on the album, so thankful.
Zomb: Well said my friend, massive shout out to you for sitting down with us and we're looking forward to what comes next from Luvariez.
